9:00 update: The races are going ahead this morning as thankfully lightning is no longer forecast just ‘light showers’. Looking forward to seeing you there!
The Steeple Chase has taken place for a number of years and is set in the picturesque surroundings of Steeple Morden, a small rural village in Cambridgeshire. It consists of three events:
• The 10K – open to entrants over 16 years of age.
• The 3K – a fun family event, allowing all ages and abilities to take part and be involved. Children taking part in the 3K fun run will remain the responsibility of their accompanying adult at all times. The entry fee for the 3K event includes a finishers medal for all paid entries. Non paying adults can choose to accompany their child on the course. However, they will not be eligible for a medal.
• The 1K – a fun family event, aimed at Reception and KS1.
Most importantly, there will be CAKE, tea for finishers of all events!
Sunday 22nd September 2019.
10k starts at 10:00 am.
3k starts at 10:15 am.
1k starts at 10:20 am.
All participants should assemble at Steeple Morden C of E Primary School (SG8 0PD) fifteen minutes before the start of the run.
How to enter and prices
All proceeds go towards Steeple Morden Primary School a village school in the South West corner of Cambridgeshire with around 200 pupils. Our catchment area consists of the villages of Steeple Morden, Litlington, Abington Pigotts and Odsey.
10k Run: £10 if entered by 21 September and £12 if paying on the day.
3k Fun Run: £3
1k Fun run: £1 (payment will be collected on the day).
Online entry for the 10k and 3k will close on Saturday 21st September at 18:00.
You can also enter offline by collecting a form, available from the office, at Steeple Morden Primary School.
You may also register and pay in cash on the day of the event.
A car park is available off Hay Street in the Recreation Ground and will be signposted in the village, this is a three minute walk from the start. Please use this car park and not the roads around the school. Only disabled parking will be available at the school.
The registration desk will be open from 8:30 am on race day, where race numbers can be collected. Please note race numbers will not be sent out prior to the event. Please allow sufficient time to collect and attach your race number prior to the run.
Both the 10K and the 3K run along a lovely, circular route; over fields, via public footpaths and farm paths around the village of Steeple Morden. The start for both events, is by Steeple Morden Primary School and the routes may be uneven and muddy under foot, so please come prepared.
For the 10k route, we have been fortunate to obtain special permission to go over private land for the event giving you the opportunity to run in areas not usually accessible to the public. For this reason the exact course will not be published until closer to the event and the private sections of the course must not be run outside of the event. The majority of this course is off-road.
The 3K fun run will be run through fields and woods at the back of the recreation ground and have no road sections. This makes this event ideal for runners of all ages and abilities.
The 1K fun run will take place in the school playground.
Both the 10k and 3K route will be marshalled. For the 3k run, there will be adults, who are associated with the school, running within, and at the tail of the field.
Dogs and Pushchairs
Part of the route includes public footpaths where owners may be walking their dogs. However, we ask you not to bring your dogs on this occasion as they are not allowed in the registration area and for the safety and comfort of all competitors.
There will be a baggage area available at the school. Please be aware items are left at your own risk.
There will be toilets available at the school before and after the event. There are no toilets on the course.
Refunds and Transfers
Due to this being a small event, we are unable to offer refunds or transfers.
Post-race refreshments will be provided at the Steeple Morden Primary School.
